How much is One Cubic yard?
Coverage: One cubic yard of the Garden mix covers an area 9 x 12 three inches deep.
Weight: 1 cubic yard of the garden mix weighs approximately 1,200-1,500 pounds. Most standard pick-up trucks (ex. F150) or single axle 5x8 trailer can hold one yard because of the weight.
Common Uses:
-Vegetable Gardens
-Annuals plants
-Soil Amendment; add to a clay soil
Recommendations:
When planting a garden, whether with annuals or vegetables, it is recommended that you have a minimum of 6 inches of good, loose soil for planting. If the plants have a deeper root system or grow underground (e.g. potatoes and carrots), a greater depth of loose soil will be needed. When adding a mix to existing soil, you should loosen the existing before adding the Garden Mix.
The Garden mix can be used as a soil amendment for areas that have poor soil for growing (i.e clay soils). When adding to the existing soil, it is best to till the area prior to adding the new soil blend.
